Fero Construction was formed in 1974 by Thomas J. Fero &
Karen L. Fero. Having moved from Illinois with a teaching degree and a union
card in construction, Tom decided building homes was what he wanted to do.
Starting out in the 70’s was a lot less complicated than building today. Tom
started by building a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom spec house, doing most of the work
himself, including a tile roof. That home introduced Fero Construction to the
public, and word of mouth did the rest. Building his own personal homes provided
him with a way of expressing his talents as a carpenter and his eye for detail.
Fero Construction’s 1st model home was built in 1976-77 in Port Charlotte.
In 1978 Fero Construction became
incorporated and now had 3 employees; Tom Fero, Karen Fero, & Robert Killian.
Today Fero Construction has 7 on the payroll, and yes, Robert Killian is still
with us. Fero Construction has earned a reputation as
one of the areas finest custom home builders.

Fero Construction, Inc. has grown from
a “mom & pop” company into a multi-million dollar company with gross sales in
2005 over $13 million.
As we look ahead to the future of Fero Construction, Inc. and
Charlotte County, we can only imagine the enormous possibilities. Charlotte
County is a wonderful place to raise a family, build a business, and enjoy
retirement. Hurricane Charley in 2004 left it’s mark on our beautiful area, but
with the support of a community dedicated to re-building, Charlotte County will
be better than ever. |
